My grandmother was 20 years old and my mom was 10.
In 1965 African Americans received that same right.
My grandmother was then 65yrs old…
and my mom was 35yrs old before either of them could vote.
They were both born women and both born Black. Yet the Nation didn’t acknowledge those facts until forced by using our Democratic tools and voices of the people.
We the People must continue to use our voices, even when we disagree. Even when the choices are not the best. Even when we don’t feel like it. Because the moment we stop speaking and standing up for our rights is the moment we begin to lose our Democracy.
